The Vietnam Pangasius industry is an important export industry that brings to Vietnam billions of USD in value every year, but we have not yet fully exploited the value of Pangasius.
Since the late 80s and early 90s, Vietnam has participated in the Pangasius export market. Up to now, for more than 30 years, we have only stopped at simple processing such as Frozen Pangasius fillets, Pangasius steaks, whole round Pangasius, etc. According to VASEP, up to now, the value-added rate of Vietnamese Pangasius is only about 20%, with 1/2 of which is the domestic market. With an output of 1.5 million tons of Pangasius harvested annually, the figure of 20% is quite small with very few companies participating in deep processing of Pangasius products.
To enhance the value and position of Pangasius in the international market, we need to research more value-added products, instant or ready-to-eat products to meet the needs of current consumers. Based on that, Interfish has also invested and researched more on these value-added products to keep up with the trend and contribute to enhancing the value of Pangasius, helping to increase export value while getting closer to the needs of current consumers with less cooking time.
