The application of high technology in production not only contributes to increasing the added value of pangasius, but also brings the strength of production to sustainable development.

In recent years, Vietnam’s pangasius industry has encountered many difficulties in production and export due to the impact of climate change, fish diseases, and high raw fish production costs; Technical barriers and strict regulations from export markets…

Therefore, the application of high technology in production not only contributes to increasing the added value of pangasius, but also gradually brings production strengths to more sustainable development.

Nam Viet Joint Stock Company’s high-tech pangasius farming model was deployed in early 2019, in Binh Phu commune, Chau Phu district, An Giang province. With an area of 600 hectares, total investment capital of 4,000 billion VND; This project is divided into 2 zones.

In which, the 3-level high-quality pangasius seed production area has an area of 150 hectares, investment capital of 1,000 billion VND; Agricultural zone applying high technology for aquaculture and commercial pangasius farming, area of 450 hectares, investment capital of 3,000 billion VND. Currently, this model has been put into operation and has products on the market.

According to Mr. Doan Toi, General Director of Nam Viet Joint Stock Company (NAVICO), the 3-level high-quality pangasius seed production area produces about 360 million high-quality pangasius seeds each year to serve the regions. raised by the Company and supplied to the market.

As for the commercial pangasius farming area, each year it produces 200,000 tons of raw pangasius for export processing. The entire farming area invests in modern equipment; With nano aeration technology and baking catalyst to treat water in ponds, there is no need to discharge pond water into the environment, no need to scrape and suck out pond bottom mud using mechanical methods like before…

According to Mr. Toi: “There is no country that exports as much as our country, if there is, it is very little; The second is about technology quality; Third, the price cannot compete with Vietnam.

We farm like this, in a completely closed double cycle, from fish feces we recover to make organic fertilizer, a part of the water surface we create solar power, we make use of solar energy. Use everything without giving up anything; From recovered fish by-products, we make high-quality products with a very high value of several tens of USD/kg. This is a typical farming area, our customers from all over the world, from five continents, have come here, they admire it very much.”

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Cuong, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that in the past, commercial pangasius only took 30% of the fillet meat for export, the rest was mostly waste products used as animal feed, the first part was sold abroad. In addition to very low prices, many by-products are even discarded. However, in recent years, many businesses in the Mekong Delta, including Nam Viet Joint Stock Company, have invested in technology in deep processing stages, creating high-value products such as cooking oil and collagen. , gelatin… increase the added value of pangasius.

At the same time, the model of linked farming areas has been successfully built and satellite households providing fingerlings are always maintained, organizing a closed production process with factories applying modern, high technology for production. and processing.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Cuong highly appreciated this high-tech pangasius production model of businesses, which has since created progress in developing the pangasius industry value chain; especially the breakthrough in deep processing technology, proactively sourcing clean raw materials, and diversifying products from pangasius.

Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong emphasized: “This can be said to be an industrial complex producing Vietnamese tra products; Applying the most modern technology today, from the stage of organizing seed production to fully automatic commercial farming, with a regulation regime from water source, water environment control to food application. .

Through this combination, it shows that the pangasius industry is restructuring in a direction that is not only modern, but also to affirm its number one role in the international market in supplying output, as well as clean products for demand. International integration for Vietnamese agricultural products. The special thing here is not only applying high technology, but also demonstrating the direction of circular economy industry, with a product chain of more than 50 types.”

Pangasius is one of the two main agricultural export products of An Giang province. To restore the pangasius industry in difficult conditions, the province has recently promoted the implementation of a chain of high-quality 3-level pangasius seed production.

Specifically, four businesses have been invited to invest in high-tech concentrated farming areas such as: Viet-Australia Group, with 104 hectares; Nam Viet Joint Stock Company, 600 hectares, including 150 hectares for breeding; Vinh Hoan Joint Stock Company, with 48.3 hectares, Loc Kim Chi Development Company Limited, about 350 hectares.

These projects have been and are being implemented, gradually contributing to improving the quality of pangasius breeds. At the same time, create favorable conditions to support businesses to expand and develop linked chain production models in hatchery production and commercial pangasius farming with associated components.
